My buddy Mike and I have been debating since the season started which of these two BCS conferences has gotten off to the roughest start. He was convinced the Big East was lagging, where I was sure the ACC had earned the honor. Until now.
The Big East is an alarming 3-8 against FBS teams so far this year. Um, that's atrocious. They are 1-5 when hosting FBS teams. That is downright awful.
Big East Losses To FBS Teams This Season and Margin of Loss
Rutgers to UNC 32
Cincinnati to Oklahoma 26
Louisville to Kentucky 25
West Virginia to East Carolina 21
Syracuse to Northwestern 20
Rutgers to Fresno St. 17
Syracuse to Akron 14
Pittsburgh to Bowling Green 10
To me, it's the margin of victory that jumps off the page. It's not just losing to out of conference foes but HOW they are losing and by how much. Maybe the beat writers will focus on the woes of the Big East now instead of constantly reminding us of Maryland and Middle Tennessee State or Alabama and Clemson.
Mike, you win this one.
Just this one....
